More Fingerprints...
Since we had to start from the beginning with the USCIS, we had to redo our background checks and CPS checks. We went downtown on Friday before leaving for Iowa to get fingerprinted for another local criminal background check. We decided to get another set of fingerprint cards made while we were there since our FBI clearance will most likely expire before we complete our dossier. The results of the background checks should arrive sometime this week, so we should be able to submit our I-800 form to Immigrations within the next couple of weeks. We're not sure how long it will take to get approval, but we're hoping that it won't take too long this time. The path to our children has been rocky and we've had many obstacles along the way. This process definitely requires a lot of patience!! That's all for now...

Hi Kim, sorry you had to do I800. I hear it is taking long because it is more detailed. Did your I600 expire? We were fortunate that we submitted our I600 by April so we were grandfathered in. Do you ever check out the FRUA chat site? Alot of people have been talking about the I800 on there if you want to sort of know how long it is taking. Best of luck.
Our social worker checked with her contact at the local USCIS office, and they said we had to file the I-800 form. Our original I-600 form was filed last October and approved in May 2008, but we still have to do the new form. So many people have told us that they didn't have to do the new form, but we were told that we did. This process is so stressful...
